Program helps kids find ‘Incredible Insects’

Free Outdoor Discovery Center program at Shore Acres Park is Friday.

The Outdoor Discovery Center is leading the program “Incredible Insects” from 10-11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, at Shore Acres Park, 6602 138th Ave. Here a butterfly rests at the park on July 31, 2024.

Besides disc golfers and hikers, Shore Acres Township Park is teeming with insects and the Outdoor Discovery Center wants kids to find them.

The free program “Incredible Insects” is 10-11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, at the park, 6602 138th Ave.

Participants will use nets and bug boxes to explore these amazing creatures.

Suggested age range is 5 to 13 years old. Guardians must stay with the class.

The program is free and sponsored by the Laketown Township Parks and Recreation Commission.

  • Night Hike, Oct. 4, Huyser Farm, 4188 64th St. 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Past programs include Frog Catching at Farview Park, Wildflower Walk at Sanctuary Woods, Little Explorers at Wolters Woods, Kayaking at Gilligan Lake and blueberry picking at Huyser Farm Park.
