Graafschap Fire Department Chief Doug DenBleyker presented outgoing Laketown Township Supervisor Linda Howell with a plaque thanking her for her support of the fire department over the years.

“Linda has been one of the biggest supporters of us,” DenBleyker said at the Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, meeting.

At each township board meeting, she would ask the fire chief to extend gratitude from the community to the firefighters. She did the same on Wednesday.

“There’s no better example of putting others first,” she said on Wednesday about the fire department.

“Chief DenBleyker and his team are always ready to protect us, rescue us, and feed us pancakes on Fourth of July,” Howell wrote in the Fall Laketown Township newsletter where she reflected on her role in the township. “It is an amazing team that too often flies under the radar while undertaking dangerous duty that the vast bulk of us would never consider doing ourselves.”

Howell decided not to run for reelection this year after 18 years in township government. Her last meeting was Nov. 13.
