Foraker sworn in as deputy treasurer

Deputy treasurer assists with tax collection.

Christina Foraker took the oath of office to become deputy treasurer for Laketown Township on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024.

Foraker was appointed to the position by Treasurer Jim Johnson who was elected in November. He was a trustee on the township board until he was appointed to the treasurer position in 2023 after the retirement of long-time Treasurer Gary Dewey.

Deputy Treasurer Charlene Fields is retiring after almost 25 years with the township.

The deputy treasurer assists the treasurer with tax collections, disbursements of tax dollars to other agencies including area schools and fills in for the treasurer on other duties when he is not available.

Foraker started in the Laketown office in 2023.
