Township supervisor appoints deputy

Laketown Township Supervisor and Interim Manager Steven Ringelberg appointed a deputy supervisor to assist with his duties as the township board continues its search for a new manager.

Michelle Sall, current community development director, recently took the oath of office for deputy supervisor.

“Michelle is a very experienced member of the Laketown staff, the former clerk of the township, and a former parks and recreation commissioner, and has all the qualities necessary to be a great deputy supervisor,” Ringelberg said.

State law allows a supervisor to appoint a deputy who assumes the powers and performs the duties of supervisor when the supervisor is absent, ill or cannot perform the duties of office.

“If I am out sick or have business travel, I need to have a deputy in place,” Ringelberg said.

The deputy does not have a vote on the township board.

The appointment lasts through the term of the supervisor or until the deputy resigns.
