Laketown’s Interim Manager Steven Ringelberg

Board set pay at its January 8 meeting.

During its January 8, 2025, meeting, the Laketown Township Board of Trustees voted 4-0 to compensate Supervisor Steven Ringelberg $1,788 a week for handling manager duties until the position is filled. Ringelberg abstained from the vote.

Treasurer Jim Johnson came to that number by taking $110,000, the base offer to manager candidates, rounding up Ringelberg’s annual salary for being supervisor to $17,000, and subtracting that amount from $110,000 which equaled $93,000, then dividing $93,000 by 52 weeks, and then rounding that amount down to $1,788 per week. The board chose to begin the interim manager’s compensation on January 13.

Ringelberg has been working full-time with former Manager Al Meshkin and the township staff since December 16, to ensure a smooth transition once Meshkin retired. On December 30, the board appointed Ringelberg interim manager without pay effective upon Meshkin’s retirement. Meshkin retired January 3.

Ringelberg attended Harrington Elementary School, E.E. Fell Junior High School, and graduated from Holland High School.  Ringelberg has been a resident of Laketown Township since 1987. 

Professionally, Ringelberg has served as in-house counsel for a number of technology companies, including Microsoft Europe, Middle East and Africa in Paris, France, Baan Software in Putten, the Netherlands, Exstream Software in Lexington, Kentucky, Vanguard Integrity Professionals in Las Vegas, Nevada, and EagleView Technologies in Bellevue, Washington, and Rochester, New York. 

Ringelberg has also at various times served as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief of Staff, Chief Information Security Officer, Chief Privacy Officer, Vice President of Business Development, and/or Vice President of Human Resources for companies such as Exstream, Vanguard, and EagleView and others. Between 1999 and 2005, Ringelberg designed, developed, and operated Hilltop Conference & Golf Center in Laketown (now known as Third Coast Church).

Ringelberg earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio, and his Juris Doctor at New York University School of Law, New York, New York.
