Interim manager meets with drain officials

Laketown Township Supervisor and Interim Manager Steven Ringelberg met with representatives from the Allegan County Drain Commissioner’s Office on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. The meeting continues Ringelberg’s information gathering as he continues his role as interim manager.

According to Ringelberg, the township board’s primary responsibilities for physical infrastructure in the township are focused on the roads, drains, parks and multi-use paths.

“By meeting with and learning from both the Allegan County Road Commission and the Allegan County Drain Commission we can establish the priorities for the township roads and drains, as well as influence the county’s priorities for the county roads and drains that traverse Laketown Township.”

Ringelberg worked full-time with former Manager Al Meshkin and the township staff since December 16 to ensure a smooth transition once Meshkin retired. On December 30, the township board appointed Ringelberg interim manager.

Meshkin retired Jan. 3. The board continues discussions about hiring a full-time manager.

As interim manager, Ringelberg is generally at the township hall approximately 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and he is happy to meet with township residents when he is not otherwise in meetings with staff, vendors, and other government agencies.

In his role as supervisor, Ringelberg meets with residents with open office hours twice a month. For those open office hours, he will be at the township office, 4338 Beeline Road, on the following dates and times:

• 8-9 a.m. on Thursday, February 6.
• 4:30-5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 20.
