Hundreds in township without power

Storm causes damage, downs trees and power lines. Restoration times vary.

Hundreds of Consumers Energy customers in Laketown Township are without power Friday, May 16, 2025, after a strong storm swept over the area on Thursday night.

As of 10:15 a.m. Friday, 189,666 customers statewide are affected by 4,866 outages.

One of the largest areas in Laketown Township is from about 140th Avenue southwest into the Saugatuck Dunes State Park where 148 customers are without power. Estimated time of restoration is 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Areas north and east of Castle Park into Park Township, multiple areas throughout the township and 51 customers along 140th Avenue south to 138th Avenue and east into Fillmore Township are without power.

Restoration times vary. Some customers are not scheduled to have their power restored until Sunday.

Consumers Energy says to stay at least 25 feet away from downed power lines, keep children and pets away, and report the issue by calling 9-1-1 and Consumers Energy at 800-477-5050.
