Voters support both millage proposals

Fire department, roads, paths, drains will be funded.

Laketown Township voters supported both millage proposals on the Aug. 5, 2025, ballot, securing funds for the Graafschap Fire Department and roads, non-motorized paths and drains.

Each proposal passed in all three Laketown precincts.

The fire department proposal passed 73.65 percent to 26.35 percent.

The roads, paths and drains proposal passed 77.59 percent to 22.41 percent.

Overall turnout was about 23 percent, according to the Allegan County Clerk’s Office.

The two proposals reallocated a total of 3 mills. The approvals do not increase the overall millage rate in 2026.

The roads, non-motorized paths and drains millage dropped from 2 mills to 1.5 mills.

The fire department proposal millage increased from 1 mill to 1.5 mills.
