All ages can try out biking skills at Shore Acres Park

Free Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day is Saturday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Explore the skills area and bike trail at Shore Acres Park, 6602 138th Ave. in Laketown Township, on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. as part of Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day.

The free event is sponsored locally by Michigan’s Edge Mountain Biking Association, the group that oversees the skills area and bicycle trails at Shore Acres.

Helmets and personal protection gear are recommended.

A 1.9-mile bicycle trail runs through the 40-acre park. A skills track, once a BMX course, is also in the park and has been recently upgraded by MEMBA.

The site includes tracks for beginners, advanced and areas for expert jump-lines.

The entire trail system and skills area are maintained by volunteers through the 501c(3) at no cost to the township.

The 40-acre Shore Acres Township Park is owned by Laketown Township. It includes a disc golf course, the biking course and trails, and hiking trails that link to Saugatuck Dunes State Park, Lake Michigan, and the Felt Estate.
