The mansion, 6597 138th Ave., was constructed in the 1920s by Dorr E. Felt, inventor of the Comptometer, an early adding machine. After his death, the estate became a seminary for the Augustinian order then a state prison and Michigan State Police post before the property was purchased by Laketown Township and restored.

Shore Acres Township Park is 40 acres with a disc golf course, bicycle track and trails to Lake Michigan through the adjoining Saugatuck Dunes State Park.
