An American Red Cross blood drive is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday. Nov. 30, at the Graafschap Fire Department station, 4534 60th St.
Walk-ins are welcome but there are not always immediate open slots so you might need to wait.
For an appointment, go to RedCrossBlood.org and enter sponsor code: GFD. Or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
Power Red appointments are available as well. A Power Red donation collects the red cells but returns most of the plasma and platelets to the donor. These donors must meet specific eligibility requirements and have type A Neg, B Neg, or O blood.
Fire department members will also be giving tours of the station and trucks throughout the day.
This is the second time the fire department has been the location of a blood drive. The first event was Aug. 31.
The blood drives are another way Graafschap Fire Department reaches out to the community.
The department has free weekly blood pressure checks at the facility from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays. The popular July Fourth pancake breakfast draws more than a thousand people to the site to help raise funds for the department.
The department is also engaged in Community Risk Reduction, providing home safety inspections and an expanded smoke/carbon monoxide detector program.
