Board approves pay, delays road project

Other business on Jan. 14 includes ordinance changes, approval of poverty exemption.

The Laketown Township Board of Trustees meets at the township hall, 4338 Beeline Road.

The Laketown Township Board of Trustees on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, approved the salaries for their positions.

All board of trustee positions received a 3 percent increase for the fiscal year 2026-2027. The fiscal year is April 1 through March 31.

The supervisor, clerk and treasurer will each make $18,030 for the year. Trustees will each make $5,464.

In other business, the board:

  • Postponed paving 61st Street north of 138th Avenue from 2026 to 2027 due to delays by the Allegan County Road Commission in acquiring easements, according to Supervisor Steven Ringelberg. The dead-end is one of the few dirt roads left in the township.
  • Approved zoning ordinance changes proposed by the planning commission.
  • Approved the 2026 Poverty Exemption Resolution as recommended by Assessor Don Jollay. For complete information on this exemption, contact Jollay at don@laketowntwp.org.
  • Approved the board of trustees meeting schedule for 2026-2027. The board meets at 5 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month and 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month. Meetings are at the township hall, 4338 Beeline Road.
  • Postponed the manager review until the board’s March meeting.
  • Agreed to have Trustee Mike Koeman and Supervisor Steven Ringelberg meet with Manager Stephanie Fox to refine the manager’s goals for 2026-2027.
