Township makes board, commission appointments

Fee schedule, meeting calendar approved as well.

Laketown Township approved nominations and appointments to boards and commissions at the Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, meeting.

Herrick Library Board: Bob Kool (reappointment)

Graafschap Fire Department Fire Board: Mike Koeman (replaces Patrick Dietrich)

Zoning Board of Appeals: Mike Koeman (board representative replacing Jim Delaney), Casey Kimes, Bob Slikkers, and alternates Stephen Penfield and Charles Martin Hysen (reappointments)

Planning Commission: Patrick Dietrich (replaces Marcia Perry) and Mark Timmerman (board representative replacing Jim Johnson)

Board of Review: Helen Heneveld, Kevin Stoike and Barb Hibiske (reappointments)

In other business, the board:

  • Approved the 2025 Fee Schedule raising the plumbing, electrical and mechanical permits from $70 to $90.
  • Approved the Public Comment Resolution 2024-13 that provides guidelines for people addressing the board.
  • Appointed Treasurer Jim Johnson as vice chairperson to lead meetings when the supervisor is not present.
  • Approved the annual meeting calendar. The board decided to keep the workshops and meetings at their current date and times – 5 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month for workshops and 6 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month for regular meetings – except on holidays. The January board workshop is Jan. 8 and the regular meeting is Jan. 15.
  • Accepted Procedures for Laketown Board of Trustees Meetings from Supervisor Steven Ringelberg on how the board operates including motions and voting.
  • Heard an overview of the Open Meetings Act from Ron Bultje, township attorney.
