Board meeting moved to Thursday, Dec. 11
Presentation on recycling grant planned. Other topics include Interurban, beach stairs at 6 p.m. meeting.

The Laketown Township Board of Trustees moved its regularly scheduled meeting for December to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, to accommodate a presentation on a possible grant for recycling.
The board voted at its Dec. 3 workshop to move the regular business meeting from Wednesday, Dec. 10, to Thursday, Dec. 11. The meeting is 6 p.m. at the township hall, 4338 Beeline Road. The Zoom link remains the same.
The meeting date was changed so it would not conflict with a firefighter appreciation event hosted by Fillmore Township on Dec. 10. Graafschap Fire Department Chief Doug DenBleyker would not be able to be at the Dec. 10 meeting.
The Laketown meeting was also moved so Deputy Clerk Zoey Hallam, who is a firefighter, can present a proposal to the Laketown board for a state Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy Recycling Infrastructure grant for recycling totaling about $125,000. The grant would reimburse the township about $100,000 to purchase rolling recycling carts for residents.
The deadline to apply is Jan. 28, 2026.
A community survey by the township showed that most respondents currently recycle and want a more durable, consistent system than the yellow-bag system now in use through Republic Services, the township’s single-hauler trash service provider.
Other items
The Dec. 11 meeting will also have several other key issues on its agenda including:
- Rezoning of the Wolters House property for sale.
- Funding of the Interurban Transit Authority bus system.
- A proposal to spend $196,500 for new stairs at Laketown Township Beach.
- Authorizing up to $15,000 for engineering work for renovations at the Felt Mansion.
