Day 3: Huyser House gone, hole being filled in

The hole where the Huyser House once stood since 1939 is being filled in today Wednesday, June 5, 2024. The structure has been knocked down and the debris and concrete have been removed.

Crews from Specialized Demolition of Hamilton demolished the 1,559-square-foot, two-story home on Monday, June 3, 2024.

The house, along with several other structures that have since been removed, came with the donation of the 102 acres that make up Huyser Farm Park at the corner of 142nd Avenue and 64th Street. Since the township acquired the land in 2001, the house has been empty, and the parks commission was not able to settle on a use for the home.

The site will be leveled and covered. Two large holly trees that grew up alongside the house will be left in place.
