Website Assistance / ADA

Laketown Township is committed to providing information to everyone, online and offline. We’re committed to providing a website accessible to all, including to those with visual, motor, auditory, and/or cognitive disabilities.

We will monitor and attempt to follow all current accessibility standards and guidelines.

We want every person –

  • with a visual impairment to be able to use their screen readers to hear the content on our website
  • with a hearing impairment to be able to access closed captioning in our videos and alternative text in our photos and graphics
  • or with a mobility/fine motor issue to be able to access information from our website even if they cannot use a mouse.

Our definition of the word ACCESSIBLE means that a person with a disability is afforded the opportunity to acquire the same information, engage in the same interactions, and enjoy the same services as a person without a disability in an equally effective and equally integrated manner, with substantially equivalent ease of use.

Expressed another way, we want every person with a disability to be able to obtain the information as fully, equally, and independently as a person without a disability.

We realize our effort will not result in identical ease of use compared to that of persons without disabilities, but nevertheless, we are committed to the equal opportunity to access the educational benefits and opportunities afforded by ever-changing technology.

Our township is committed to offering a website which uses code compliant with W3C standards for HTML and CSS. We want every user of our website to be able to obtain the content they need regardless of the browser they are using.

Occasionally some documents, forms, links, and content will be found on our website which are not ADA compatible. If they are our township’s materials, we will work to update and modify them accordingly. If they are from a third-party link, say to another governmental entity or resource, we will do our best to address those accessibility issues.

The bottom Line – We’re here to help.
