Experience ‘Night Hike’ at Huyser Farm Park

Outdoor Discovery Center leads final program of season on Oct. 2 to discover nocturnal wildlife.

Mary Field, naturalist with the Outdoor Discovery Center, illustrates how human eyes process light during the “Night Hike” program at Huyser Farm Park, 4188 64th St. in Laketown Township, in 2024. Participants covered one eye during the exercise.

Step into a world surrounded by darkness in the season’s final Outdoor Discovery Center program in Laketown Township from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, at Huyser Farm Park, 4188 64th St.

“Night Hike” will let participants use their senses to discover how much they can feel, hear, touch, and even see in the dark. Along the way, participants will learn how nocturnal animals rely on heightened senses to navigate the night and survive.

The program is free and sponsored by the Laketown Township Parks and Recreation Commission.

Participants must be 6 years old and up. Guardians stay with the group.

Registration is required. To register, click here.
