Felt Mansion tours free on Mother’s Day

Celebrate Mother’s Day at the Felt Estate with free access to the mansion, 6597 138th Ave., from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, May 12.

The first 50 moms will get a special little gift donated by Bright World Candle Co. and Flowers by Design.

Admission is free for all on Mother’s Day.

The mansion was constructed in the 1920s by Dorr E. Felt, inventor of the Comptometer, an early adding machine. After his death, the estate became a seminary for the Augustinian order then a state prison and Michigan State Police post before the property was purchased by Laketown Township and restored.

Regular tours and Tulip Time

Self-guided tours are 1-4 p.m. Mondays, 2-5 p.m. Tuesdays and 1-4 p.m. Wednesdays through September. Self-guided tours are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (60 and over), $5 for children 8 and up, and free for children 7 and under.

Special Tulip Time hours for self-guided tours are noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 9.

Only the first floor of the mansion, carriage house and chapel are handicap accessible. Access to the upper floors is via stairs. For more information, visit https://www.feltmansion.org/
