Free self-guided tours at mansion start Sunday
“Free-For-All” tours at the Felt Estate are 1-4 p.m.

Free self-guided tours of the Felt Mansion resume for the second year starting on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
“Free-For-All” tours are 1-4 p.m. at the mansion, 6597 138th Ave. There is no charge for the self-guided tours, but donations are appreciated.
The free self-guided tours are the first Sunday of the month until September.
The free tours started in May 2024 for Mother’s Day and continued throughout the year. More than 100 walked through the building during that first opening.

About the mansion
The 25-room Felt Mansion was completed in 1928 by Dorr Felt, inventor of the Comptometer, the first machine that could do all four functions — add, subtract, multiply and divide.
After Felt’s death, the property was purchased by the St. Augustine Seminary for a school then, in the 1970s, by the State of Michigan to use as a prison. After the prison and Michigan State Police post that was in the mansion closed in the 1990s, Laketown Township purchased the property.
The mansion has been restored to its 1920s grandeur and is now a top destination for weddings and features a summer concert series.
