Fillmore Township puts on appreciation event for several departments including Graafschap.

The Fillmore Township Board of Trustees and Fire Board representatives hosted an evening of appreciation on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, for the three fire departments that protect and serve their residents. Graafschap, Hamilton, and Overisel fire departments were invited to a dinner and festivities at The Trestle Stop, 3366 M-40 in Hamilton.

With response-area coverage help from the Holland Fire Department, Graafschap members and their spouses were able spend a few hours together and enjoy the company of fellow firefighters from other departments. Each chief was presented with appreciation plaque to display in their stations.

About the department

Graafschap Fire Department responds to fire, medical and other emergency situations in all of Laketown Township and part of Fillmore Township, and assists other agencies as needed.

The department also takes a proactive approach to prevention, offering free home safety inspections, free blood pressure checks on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon at the firehouse, 4534 60th St., and blood drives as part of its Community Risk Reduction Program.
