Green Commute Week celebrates sustainable transportation
Laketown is part of the sponsoring group. Prizes available.

The Macatawa Area Coordinating Council Green Commute Week kicks off Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, with free fixed route rides on Macatawa Area Express Transit system.
Laketown Township is a member of the MACC, a regional group formed in 1992 that encourages cooperation among neighboring units of government on area-wide issues.
Green Commute Week, Sept. 8-14, is a community-wide celebration of sustainable transportation in the Holland and Zeeland area. This year, the event is focusing on how commuting choices connect people, build a healthier community, and create a more vibrant future for all.
More information about the event is available here.
The free fixed route rides are a great chance for those who haven’t tried the bus before. Macatawa Area Express — called MAX — will also give away four monthly passes to participants who document their bus trips throughout the week.
The event is supported by local businesses including Russ’ Restaurant, Knot Spot Pretzel, Urban Air Adventure Park, Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, and John Ball Zoo.
In addition, more than $500 in West Coast Cash is offered as incentives. Visit the website, log your trips each day whether biking, walking, taking public transit, or carpooling and you’ll be entered into our daily raffles for a chance to win prizes.
