The Radar Hill Hiking Club is celebrating its 50th hike on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, at Farview Park, 6257 138th Ave. in Laketown Township.

The hike is at 10:30 a.m. Meet in the parking lot. Participants will walk about 2.5 miles on the flat terrain. Participation is free and open to all.

The club held its inaugural hike at Farview on May 20, 2021.

The renovations are complete at the Interurban Wait Station at Farview Park in Laketown Township on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025.

This 87-acre park has one-and-a-half miles of trails with several distinct ecosystems including pond wetlands, low dunes, deep woods and open meadow. The railbed of the Interurban runs through the park. A former Interurban wait station, recently renovated, is also at the park.

Equestrian trails wind through the park.

The Radar Hill Hiking Club, a service of RiverWood Council, is an informal group – essentially an email list – whose goal is to promote the use of trails in the greater Saugatuck-Douglas area. The group sponsors monthly hikes and helps maintain local trails.

Radar Hill is better known as Mount Baldhead, the iconic dune just east of Oval Beach in Saugatuck. The name comes from the radar tower that looks like a big white ball on top of the dune. From 1958 through 1968 the tower was an active part of a Cold War system that monitored the northern border of the United States, on the lookout for encroaching aircraft.
