Laketown voters support senior millage renewal

Voters also back Benson, James as governor candidates.

Laketown Township voters on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, supported the countywide Senior Citizen Services Millage renewal and backed Abdul El-Sayed as Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, Jocelyn Benson as Democratic candidate for governor and John James as Republican candidate for governor.

Laketown voter turnout was 44.45 percent, according to the Allegan County website, meaning of the 5,548 total registered voters, 2,466 cast ballots.

The countywide average turnout was 29.37 percent.

Saugatuck City had the highest turnout at with 49.70 percent, followed by Douglas with 47.57 percent. Saugatuck Township was third with 46.78 percent followed by Laketown Township with 44.45 percent.

The Senior Citizen Services Millage renewal passed across the county with 72.19 percent support.

In Laketown, 75.5 percent (1,617 votes) supported the renewal and 24.5 percent (525 votes) opposed it.
