Lane closures ahead on I-196 near M-40

The $3 million project will fix bridges over CSX Railroad.

Expect lane closures on the I-196 bridges over the CSX Railroad east of the I-196/M-40 interchange in Holland starting Monday, May 12, 2025.

This project will provide a smoother ride and extend the service life of the bridges, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Work includes substructure repairs, deck patching, epoxy overlay, joint replacement, and bearing replacement.

Work is scheduled to last through August.

Based on economic modeling, this $3 million investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 29 jobs, MDOT said.
