Mountain bikers of all levels, including some riding bicycles with training wheels, tested their skills with jumps and banked curves at Shore Acres Park in Laketown Township on Saturday morning, Oct. 5, 2024, for the 20th year of Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day originated by the International Mountain Biking Association. The free celebration was sponsored locally by the Michigan’s Edge Mountain Bike Association, the group that oversees the skills area and bicycle trails at Shore Acres. Velo City Cycles, 326 S. River Ave. in Holland, was also on site to support the bike activities. Organizers also thanked Blue Star Barns, 3483 Blue Star Highway, for its support.

Michigan’s Edge Mountain Bike Association is planning improvements for the track, called a skills area, and will present plans to the Laketown Township Parks and Recreation Commission at its Nov. 20 meeting at the township hall, 4338 Beeline Road.
