Notice of Assessments in the mail this week

Watch mailboxes over the weekend.

The Laketown Township Board of Review meets March 10-11 at the township hall, 4338 Beeline Road.

Laketown Township residents will be receiving their 2025 Notice of Assessment in the mail in the next few days.

This is not a tax bill.

The annual Notice of Assessment notifies property owners of the property class of their real property(ies) in Laketown Township, whether or not the real property(ies) qualify for Principal Residence Exemption or Qualified Agriculture Exemption and if so what percentage, and any changes in either assessed value and/or taxable value of real property(ies) on the 2025 Assessment Roll.

Property tax is calculated using “Taxable Value.”  “Assessed Value” is meant to reflect 50 percent of market value as of December 31, 2024, according to Laketown Township Assessor Heather Jahr.

The Notice of Assessment also provides property owners with information on March Board of Review dates and procedures. The Board of Review is the proper forum to raise any issues concerning property classification, application of exemption, or indicated valuation on the Notice of Assessment are correct.

If you have questions about the document or information, please contact Assessor Heather Jahr at (616) 335-3050 or heather@laketowntwp.org.
