Laketown Township is seeking applicants to fill an opening on the Parks and Recreation Commission.
Residents have until 5 p.m. Friday, May 12, to submit their name to be considered for the position that opened after the resignation of Tom Shuff. Send an email to office@laketowntwp.org explaining why you want to be on the parks commission.
The person chosen will serve through 2024 when the position will be on the November ballot.
The township board will interview candidates, though how that will be done is still being discussed. The board will decide the specific procedures for interviews at its Wednesday, May 10, regular meeting at 6 p.m. at the township hall, 4338 Beeline Road.
The parks commission is a five-member board that oversees township parks. Ongoing projects include marking trails, installing welcoming and informational signs and overseeing the annual Day of Caring for volunteers to help clean up parks.
The commission meets once a month at 6 p.m. on the third Wednesday. Commissioners receive $85 per meeting.
