Township looking for election workers

Opportunities are available for election workers in Laketown Township.

If you are dependable, community minded, and interested in being part of the democratic process, the township would love to have you join the team.

Training is provided, and no prior experience is necessary.

Election workers play a critical role in ensuring that every vote is handled accurately, securely, and fairly. It is a long day, but it is also meaningful, hands-on public service that directly supports the community.

Precinct workers

A typical Election Day starts early, with precinct workers arriving at 6:30 a.m. to set up before polls open at 7 a.m. Throughout the day, workers greet voters, check them in, issue ballots, and help keep the process running smoothly.

After polls close at 8 p.m., the work continues until all closing procedures and paperwork are complete.

Absent Voter Counting Board

The township also has opportunities on the Absent Voter Counting Board, where workers process absentee ballots. This role is detail oriented and just as essential to ensuring accurate and secure results. These workers arrive later in the morning or early afternoon, depending on the number of ballots received, and work until all ballots are processed and paperwork is finalized.

Receiving Board

The township also has a Receiving Board that assists at the end of the night by reviewing and organizing election materials as they are returned. This role starts in the evening and continues until all materials have been verified and processed. This is a great option for those who may not be available for the full day.

There are two major elections this year: August Primary Election on Aug. 4 with nine days of Early Voting, and November General Election Nov. 3 with nine days of Early Voting.
