Voters support proposals in Holland, Saugatuck districts

Voters in Laketown Township supported school proposals in Holland and Saugatuck school districts in the Tuesday, May 5, 2026, election.

Both ballot issues passed overall:

Holland School District voters approved a levy of 1.25 mills to create a sinking fund for the purchase of real estate for sites for and the construction or repair of school buildings; for school security improvements; for the acquisition or upgrading of technology; for the acquisition of student transportation vehicles; for the acquisition of parts, supplies, and equipment used for the maintenance of student transportation vehicles; for the acquisition of eligible trucks and van used to carry parts, equipment, and personnel for or in the maintenance of school building ; for the acquisition of parts, supplies, and equipment used to maintain such trucks and vans; and all other purposes authorized by law.

In Precinct 1 in Laketown Township, the proposal received 219 “yes” votes and 161 “no” votes, according to Allegan County.

Saugatuck Public Schools voters approved a levy of 0.5 mill for sinking fund purposes to be used for the purchase of real estate for sites, for the construction or repair of school buildings, for school security improvements, for the acquisition or upgrading of technology, and for all other purposes authorized by law.

In Precinct 3 in Laketown Township, the proposal received 97 “yes” votes and 70 “no” votes, according to Allegan County.

The next election is Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, in a statewide primary. There are nine days of early voting from July 25 through Aug. 2.
