A walk in Sanctuary Woods kicks off spring and summer Outdoor Discovery Center programs in Laketown Township.

Woodland Wildflower Walk at Sanctuary Woods, 4749 66th St. 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, April 25.
Explore the sights and sounds of spring. This time of year brings migrating birds, beautiful wildflowers and active mammals. Participants will hike the lower loop and upper loop of this amazing dune ecosystem to see what animals and plants are ready for spring. Please note this hike does include about 170 stairs up a dune.
Suggested age range: 6 years old and up. Guardians stay with the class.
Registration not required but appreciated.
Senior Series – Wildflowers at Sanctuary Woods, 4749 66th St. 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, May 2.
Take a leisurely stroll along the trails in search of the many different spring wildflowers that call this park home. Learning how to identify them along with some wildflower folklore will be the focus of this program. Adults only.
Suggested age range: Seniors.
Registration is required.

Frog Catching at Farview Park, 6257 138th Ave. 4-5:30 p.m. Monday, May 22.
Meet a naturalist at Farview Park in search of amphibians, insects and other aquatic life. All collection tubs and dip nets will be provided. Old shoes or boots that can go into the water are recommended. No sandals or bare feet please.
Suggested age range: 4 to 12 years old. Guardians stay with the class.
Registration is required for all children (except infants).

Little Explorers at Wolters Woods Park, 6281 147th Ave. 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, June 13.
Explore the nature trails as only a preschooler could. Find colors, shapes and textures on the easily accessible trails of Wolters Woods. All materials will be provided. At the conclusion of the program, feel free to make time to play on the playground.
Suggested age range: Up to 6 years old. Guardians stay with the class.

Paddle Adventure at Gilligan Lake, 4300 66th St. Street parking only, limited parking. 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 25.
The Outdoor Discovery Center is partnering with Tulip City Paddle Tours to go paddling on Gilligan Lake. This small lake will provide the perfect spot to try out beginner skills on either kayaks or stand-up paddle boards. There will be instructors present.
Suggested age range: 10 years old and up.
