The first Outdoor Discovery Center event in Laketown Township this spring is a Woodland Wildflower Walk at Sanctuary Woods, 4750 66th St., from 5-6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30.

The free event is sponsored by the Laketown Township Parks and Recreation Commission.

To register, visit the Outdoor Discovery Center here.

Hikers will take the lower loop and upper loop of this amazing dune ecosystem to see what animals and plants are ready for spring. This hike does include about 170 stairs up a dune.

Suggested age range is 6 years and up. Guardians stay with the class.

Registration is not required but appreciated.

“Program participation numbers continue to go up year to year,” Joy Funk, vice president of programming at the Outdoor Discovery Center, said earlier this year.

“We also saw a large increase after Covid. It seems that families have re-discovered visiting parks and programs as a great family activity. They realize they can have a nice walk outside, enjoy the unique habitats that West Michigan has to offer, and learn with an ODC naturalist.”

The Outdoor Discovery Center Network is a registered nonprofit based at 4214 56th St. that strives to advance outdoor education and conservation in West Michigan.
