Workshops focus on composting and mushrooms

Allegan Conservation District hosting events.

The Allegan Conservation District is sponsoring two workshops in September – one on composting and the other on mushroom growing.

Both events are at the Allegan Conservation District offices at 2412 Taft Road in Heath Township.

Workshops

Composting 101 is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025. The workshop with the Great Lakes Mushroom Company includes food, compost bin, compost worms, and grow kit. Fee is $35 per participant (no refunds).

Mushroom 101 is 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025.  This is A level one mushroom growing workshop with Great Lakes Mushroom Company. Free gift and hot food included. Fee is $35 per participant (no refunds).

About the group

The Allegan Conservation District is a local unit of state government that utilizes state, federal, and private sector resources to solve conservation problems. The guiding philosophy of the Allegan Conservation District is that decisions on conservation issues should be made at the local level, by local people.
